Have you ever noticed how your phone or computer slows down when it’s been running for too long? Eventually, you get that “restart required” alert, and everything works better once you do a reboot. It’s almost become a joke–if something isn’t working properly, we just turn it off and turn it back on again. But that simple restart usually does the trick. A reset brings things back into alignment–and not just with technology, but in your life.

A life reset is one of the most powerful ways to realign your life when you feel off balance. Whether it’s a daily reset achieved through rest, or a deeper life change after you’ve been running on autopilot for too long, realigning will help you restore your peace, focus, and overall well-being.

In this episode, we’ll explore the signs that indicate it's time to pause and do a life reset, as well as what the actual process looks like. Welcome to this episode where we are taking a look at you and some of the indications that you may need to take a pause and do a bit of a reset on your life. In this episode, we're going to be talking about some of the key indicators that a good reset would be very useful for you.

​

And we're also going to talk about what this actually looks like. And I'm going to ask you some questions today to help you to really discover where in your life things are maybe lacking, where there is disconnection, and most importantly, how you can begin to restore some of your sense of well-being, some of your peace, some of your focus and your direction, and really close the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

So that's what we're talking about today. And very exciting because I have some awesome opportunities coming up to help you with this very thing. So that's what we're talking about. So here we go. Let's talk about these signs that you would do well to have a reset. And I'm going to talk a little bit more about this toward the end of the podcast, but I've been talking with all of you about the deep reset, which is a retreat that is up and coming.

They are going to be live calls. We are going to actually be doing a life mastery reset. So I'm going to tell you more about that. But right now, here we are. And these are some things I want you to consider.

Right now, in this moment, as you're here and you're listening to this and you are immersed in your life, how are you feeling? How are you feeling on the regular, on the daily? How are you feeling even right now in this moment with me asking you this question?

​

How are you feeling? And how are you doing? When you think about the quality of life you would love to create, when you think about the dreams that maybe you had when you were younger or some of the things that you've wanted in life that maybe haven't quite panned out, and also when you think about the things that are going exactly the way you would want them to, how are you doing within all of this?

​

Really important questions to ask yourself. And another thing I want you to consider is, how are the different areas of your life going? And as we dive into looking at some of the indications that may be there to say, you know what, maybe it's time to do a reset, maybe it's time to lean in.

Maybe it's time to make some changes. I want you to know a few things first and foremost. And that is, number one, it is possible for you to feel more peace, greater satisfaction, and more of a sense of connectedness more often than you currently do.

This is actually possible. The second thing I want to reinforce is that the problems that exist for you right now or that seem to exist or the barriers or the obstacles in your life are much easier to solve and overcome than it may seem.

​

And the third thing I want to reinforce as we lean in today is that investing time, focus, energy into aligning with what you want is one of the most important decisions you will make. I want to say this again.

Investing time, focus, energy, and resources into aligning with what you want is one of the most important decisions you will make. I will tell you that over the last little over a decade, when I gather up the tremendously challenging experiences that have been presented to me, this has been the through thread for me.

​

Things have not always been rosy. They have not always been easy. And aligning with what I want, aligning with the life I'm determined to create has been and continues to be the most important decision that I make time and again.

​

So let's talk a little bit about why a reset matters, okay? How many times, I don't know if you all get this, but I'll get this alert on my phone that says, your phone is running slow. We recommend that you restart your phone, right?

​

And there's kind of this joke, it's like, okay, if something's broken, just turn it off and then turn it back on, right? And how true is it, right? How often is that true? And what I want to say is that I believe that we need to be doing a reset on the daily.

​

This is why our bodies are intended to rest, have rest and reset and wake up, right? And this is why rest is so important, good quality of sleep. And throughout the day, we want to be resetting. And sometimes we can get to a point in our life where we have been going so much on autopilot in so many ways that we truly need to do a complete reset.

And what I want to say about a reset and why it matters is that first of all, it's very normal to need to do a reset. And I think it can be very easy for us to criticize ourselves for getting out of balance or getting off track.

​

But actually, life can very easily and naturally fall out of balance even when we're doing our best. Especially with stressors that are unexpected, transitions and responsibilities. It is normal for every one of us to need to reset regularly and at certain periods in our life.

Okay? And right along these lines, I want to say that a reset is not a disaster. Needing a reset is not a disaster. It is not a failure. It truly is an intentional recalibration. Okay, so just like my phone will say sometimes, hey, this is running slow.

​

You might want to restart this. And just like sometimes we need to unplug the whole thing to restart it, the same is true for us. And how wise are we when we lean in and take that opportunity? So let's talk a little bit about four specific signs that can indicate that you are due for a reset.

​

Let's talk about, number one, you feel constantly stressed or drained. How many of you relate to this? It's like this experience of everyday things feeling much heavier than they should, feeling very rote, feeling like you're really struggling to get that momentum or that positive energy going, right?

​

And some of you may experience really your nervous system being in overdrive, right? Where you are constantly in that state of push, push, push. And quite frankly, we don't know how to get out of it.

​

I mean, one of the things that's coming to my mind immediately is when I have small kids. And it's like there are all of these needs and demands and worries that are front and center or were front and center for me, right?

​

And I didn't know how to get out of that rut. I didn't know how to support myself. And so whether it is kids, whether it is work, whether it is aging parents and the responsibilities of that, maybe it's loved ones having mental health issues or any number of other things you may be experiencing.

​

If you're constantly stressed and you're constantly drained, I want to offer up to you that it might be good to do a restart, a reset. Next, let's talk about number two, you're feeling especially out of alignment in one of your core four areas of life.

And I'm going to be breaking this down and leaning into this in my four-week life mastery reset with you. And the way we're breaking these four core areas down is number one, self, inner world. This includes your connection with who you are, how well you know yourself.

​

It's that inner peace. It's that sense of well-being and being in touch with your own emotional world. So there's self, that inner world, that is an area. How are you doing in that area? Another area to look at is relationships and connection.

​

Now, all of these areas could be considered pretty broad, right? But it can be really helpful to break them down into these subcategories. So when it comes to relationship or connection, it could be that you notice things are a little bit off with your primary relationship or extended family relationships or maybe even in community.

I can say that especially over the last few years, I personally have really needed to lean into creating those community relationships because it can be very easy for me to get very caught up, not only in my work, and I don't even know that caught up would be the right word.

​

I love my work and I love my business colleagues and I experience so much connection and fulfillment there. And also, one of the things that I recognize that I know many of you can relate to as well is that there is so much value in being connected in community.

​

So when we're talking about this area of relationships and connection, it's pretty broad, and yet each of you will notice there may be a certain place in that core area of your life where you could do a little bit of tuning up.

​

The next one is work, which I'm also putting in the realm of purpose. So this is really that professional growth. And how are you doing in this area? Is it out of balance? Is it in alignment? Is there something that needs attention there?

​

And then the fourth one is resources, lifestyle. This includes finances. And things can get pretty out of balance in this area pretty quickly, pretty easily. So many of us are, you know, there have been so many changes in the world, especially since COVID.

​

I just, I feel like there have just been these rapid-fire changes happening. And there have been shifts in the economy and interest rates and all the things. And all of those circumstances around us can really impact the level of balance and certainty we feel within the financial area of our life.

​

So as we think about these, I'm interested to know right now, as you think about self and inner world, relationships and connection, work and purpose, and resources, finances, lifestyle, is there an area for you that's particularly out of alignment or out of balance?

​

If so, probably a good idea to lean into that area and do a reset. Let's talk about a third indicator that a life reset would do you well. You're repeating the same patterns over and over and nothing seems to change.

​

This is where you know you should make certain changes. You know that you would do well to make certain changes. And you've started, and yet you just can't seem to follow through. This is really truly being in a rut.

​

And one of the biggest problems with this is it reiterates to us that we're not capable of making change, that we don't follow through. And so rather than continuing to lean in and experience that constant failure, what a gift to say, hey, I'm going to do a reset.

​

Something about this is not working for me. So what if I put a pause? What if I back up? What if I broaden my perspective? And I see what actually needs to change in order to follow through. Okay, so this is a big indicator.

​

If you're stuck in those patterns, stuck in the rut, and no matter what you're doing, it doesn't seem to be helping. Maybe it's time for a reset. Let's talk about number four. This one can be, I think, one of the most troublesome, and that is you've simply lost clarity or your sense of purpose.

And this is when, especially, we can feel pretty disconnected from what really matters. It's kind of that low hum of discouragement. And I think the worst part about this is when a voice comes in to tell us that this is all there is, that no more than this is actually possible.

This is as good as it gets. And what I want to say is this is a lie. This is not true. Okay. And so if you find yourself here and you're feeling a bit lost, lost that sense of purpose, and you're asking yourself, is this it?

Is this as good as it gets? The answer to that is no. And it is time for a reset. So let's talk a little bit. I'm going to- give me just a minute here. I want to pull up something that I wanted to ask you to lean into here.

Okay. So as you're thinking about this and as you've been hearing these core areas that I'm talking about and these feelings, this sense of being off or out of alignment or out of balance or overly stressed, I want you to notice as I ask you right now, what is it that stands out the most to you?

​

What is the first answer that comes to you? What is the thing that stands out the most to you now? And I really like to ask you a question like that that challenges you to just lean in and come up with that knee-jerk reaction, because whatever that is, it's important to pay attention to.

​

Okay. And I think that sometimes we can experience a lot of fear when we notice an area that is really screaming out to us. In fact, this is reminding me of an exercise that I did a few years ago. I was at this in-person mastermind, and the speaker challenged us to think about this area of our life that was really problematic for us.

​

And then he said, I want you to consider what it will be like a year from now if nothing changes in that area. And I just remember feeling this sick feeling in my stomach. And then the next question, of course, what's it going to be like in five years, in 10 years?

​

And this was the moment for me that I realized this is not sustainable. I need to make a change here. And so the reason I bring this up is that I know that it can be pretty scary to see an area of your life that you know needs to change because it often means that you're going to need to be more honest with yourself and honest with others and make decisions that will feel uncomfortable or scary.

But what I want to say to you is that the fact that you are having that awareness is incredible because not looking at it, shutting it down and ignoring it, I guarantee is going to be much worse and much more problematic for you now and in the long term.

It affects your mental and emotional health when you ignore it. It affects your physical health when you ignore it. So I know it can be a little scary, but stay with me here, okay? And you could even ask yourself on a scale of one to 10, how satisfied am I with these four areas of my life?

My inner world, my relationships and connection, my career path or purpose, and my financial world, my resources, my lifestyle. How satisfied am I? And I think that when we can be willing to look and be honest with ourselves, that is when we have that growth to be possible.

Okay. So really take a minute and allow this to come in today. And what I want to offer up to you is that if you're feeling angst or worry or discouraged that you're seeing that changes need to be made, just notice it.

​

I'm going to share with you a few thoughts around that here in just a few minutes because I assure you that seeing what is there is definitely in your best interest and it is not an indication of failure.

​

So here we are, right? We're talking about, okay, maybe there's an indication here that I need to do a reset. Maybe you're noticing some of these areas. Maybe you're feeling that same thing I was feeling, a little bit of dread, like, oh my gosh, this has to change.

​

Well, here's the good news. When you take the invitation to do a reset for yourself, to reevaluate, to change the rules, to change the entire way that you are approaching everything. Here are a few things that can happen.

​

Number one, you can have this reconnection of where you are headed. Think about those times when you have been so focused on an end goal and your path is clear and you are on a mission. Isn't that the best feeling?

​

And in fact, if you can right now, just think about that. Imagine dialing it in and being so focused on where you want and where you're headed and so determined to get there that you feel more alive on the day-to-day.

​

You feel more infused with energy. You feel more like yourself as you're moving toward this. It's a very powerful thing. Well worth doing a reset, right? Another thing that happens is these stressors that you've been experiencing begin to release.

And as these stressors release, guess what happens? Energy is more abundant. With the release of the stressors, new energy, new resources become available to pour into the path forward. This is releasing the past and moving toward the future.

Leaning into a reset also means that the support that you are having, and in particular, what I'm talking about here is in the coming weeks, as I'm working with all of you in a group to do this life mastery reset, there is a lot of power in doing group work because having the support in making changes actually gives your brain and your body more of a sense of safety.

So remember, when we're thinking about the nervous system, we know that there is a part of our brain that says, don't make any changes, keep everything exactly the same. Familiarity is safety. And so it makes sense that as we're trying to reset and do something new, we're going to have some pushback internally.

And so there is tremendous power in having support and camaraderie and community as you do a reset, because it communicates to you, I'm not alone in this. There's safety and healing in connection and in community.

And so I can lean into making these changes because I am supported. So this is a really big deal when it comes to leaning in and doing a reset. Another of the huge benefits of leaning in and doing a reset, confidence, clarity, and feeling alive again.

I have to say that I'm at a place in my business and in my career where I feel so enlivened on the regular because I am constantly resetting. I am constantly reconnecting with my purpose and my mission.

And it's just an incredible feeling. And it's not just about the feeling, although it is fantastic. When we, when you, can bring that sense of aliveness, that sense of vitality in you, you cannot help but impact other people.

​

Every single day, every single moment is influencing and impacting other people, period. And what are you bringing to the table? And I will tell you that when I commit to my resets, just as I'm recording this for you, it's a Monday and this last weekend, I went pretty deep into my own reset process.

And as a result, today, I feel I can show up. I can show up for my friend who is struggling. I can show up for my clients who are needing a little bit of extra. I can show up for all the best people in my life.

​

And that is the gift in this. So yes, leaning into a reset, you're going to have that confidence, that clarity, and that feeling of aliveness that will inevitably impact others. I want to just mention one more thing that really is just such a beautiful gift of doing a reset and leaning in.

And that is the building up of new emotional patterns, the building up of new thought patterns, and greater resiliency. You know, there used to be, there was this idea that the brain was fully formed at 25.

And now what we know is that the brain can continue to change over time, that we do have neuroplasticity. We can create new thought patterns. We can create new emotion patterns. We are able to evolve and grow.

And what a gift at this time in your life to lean in and say, how can I shift my emotion patterns? How can I shift my mindset and my thought patterns? How can I develop more resiliency to actually go after the life that I want?

​

And I think the most powerful way to do this is to do that reset, that recharge. How do I recalibrate? Okay, so as we're wrapping up today, I hope that you are noticing where your life or yourself maybe needs a little bit of attention.

And one of the things that I noticed when I thought back about that time, and I think all of you can relate to this to some degree, is I remembered an incredible amount of energy to be able to juggle so many things.

And it wasn't just because I was younger, but it was because I felt alive in my life and in my purpose and in my possibility. And because at the time, I had not yet taken on all of these responsibilities or perceived responsibilities and allowed them to weigh me down.

And so the reason I say this is as you're here and you're listening, think of a time when you felt more abundance of energy, when you felt more like yourself. That's what we're going to recapture in this time.
